This spring, the Town of Andover conducted its 2026 Resident Survey to better understand community priorities, resident satisfaction, and perceptions of Town services. The Town partnered with the UMass Lowell Center for Public Opinion, an independent academic research center, to collect and analyze resident feedback using professional survey research standards. The 2026 survey is part of the Town’s ongoing practice of periodically surveying residents to help inform planning and decision-making.
The 2026 survey found that residents continue to view Andover positively overall. Ninety percent of respondents described Andover as an excellent or good place to live, 89 percent rated the overall quality of life as excellent or good, and 85 percent described Andover as an excellent or good place to raise children. Residents also gave strong ratings to public safety, the Town’s overall appearance, open space and conservation land, public schools, library services, snow removal, and interactions with Town employees and officials.
The survey also identified areas where residents would like to see continued focus. Local taxes, traffic, parking, and speeding remain leading concerns, while housing and affordability emerged as important themes in both survey responses and open-ended comments. Ratings for certain infrastructure-related services, including sidewalks and drinking water quality, also point to areas where the Town has already begun making significant investments.
The 2026 survey included new questions about communications preferences, reflecting the Town’s ongoing efforts to improve how residents receive information. The results show that residents are increasingly relying on digital sources, including the Town website, email newsletters, social media, and informal networks such as neighbors and friends.
